Description
DeVilbiss Advance HD Pressure Feed Conventional Spray Gun Kit (ADV-P497-10)
The DeVilbiss Advance HD Pressure Feed Conventional Spray Gun Kit (ADV-P497-10) is a mid-sized industrial spray gun configured for pressure-feed operation with conventional atomization, high-capacity air delivery, and a fine 1.0mm nozzle. This kit includes the Advance HD pressure-feed gun body with the No. 497 Conventional air cap and a 1.0mm stainless steel fluid tip and needle. Gun only — no cup included. The 497 Conventional cap's maximum air volume paired with the small 1.0mm nozzle creates the highest air-to-fluid ratio available in the Advance HD conventional lineup — producing the finest atomization and thinnest, smoothest film builds the platform can deliver.
What's in the Kit
The ADV-P497-10 ships with the Advance HD pressure-feed gun body, No. 497 Conventional air cap, and 1.0mm stainless steel fluid tip and needle. The pressure-feed configuration connects to external fluid supply systems including pressure tanks, remote cups, and recirculating lines. The gun features a 1/4" universal thread air inlet and a 3/8" universal thread fluid inlet (both accept BSP and NPS connectors). Optional accessories include the stainless steel fluid filter kit (VSA-512) and tungsten carbide or hardened tips and needles for abrasive materials.
No. 497 Conventional Air Cap Performance
The No. 497 Conventional air cap operates at a recommended inlet pressure of 50 psi (3.5 bar) with an air consumption of 18.0 scfm (510 L/min) and produces a typical fan pattern of approximately 380mm (15.0"). The 497 is the highest-capacity conventional cap in the Advance HD range — it delivers the most air volume and widest conventional fan pattern for maximum atomization quality. Paired with the 1.0mm fluid tip, the extreme air-to-fluid ratio produces ultra-fine material break-up and precision thin-film deposition across the 497's full wide fan. This configuration is purpose-built for light-viscosity materials that demand the smoothest possible finish — including stains, dyes, light sealers, wash primers, thin topcoats, and specialty finishes where surface quality, film uniformity, and minimal material consumption are all critical. The 497's 18.0 scfm air volume ensures complete atomization of even the finest fluid stream.
Why Conventional Atomization
Conventional spray guns operate at higher air pressures than HVLP or Trans-Tech compliant guns, producing the finest atomization and smoothest finish quality available. Where regulatory compliance permits, conventional atomization delivers the highest finish quality and fastest application rates in industrial spray finishing. For fine-finish work with a small nozzle like the 1.0mm, the 497's high operating pressure and air volume ensure thorough, consistent material break-up that lower-pressure technologies cannot match on demanding surface quality applications.
Why Pressure Feed
Pressure-feed spray guns deliver material from an external pressurized source rather than a gravity or suction cup. This eliminates the weight of a cup on the gun body, reducing operator fatigue on long spray sessions. More importantly, pressure feed enables continuous material supply without stopping to refill — a critical advantage in production environments. For fine nozzle sizes like the 1.0mm, pressure feed also provides the positive fluid pressure needed to maintain consistent material flow through the small orifice over extended spray cycles. The Advance HD pressure-feed body maintains the same high-capacity air passages and balanced air valve as the gravity and suction versions for identical atomization quality.
Built for High-Demand Industrial Finishing
The Advance HD achieves superior atomization through high-capacity air passages and a separate balanced air valve that provides unrestricted airflow through the gun body. The heavily anodized aluminum alloy construction is built for durability in demanding production environments. Stainless steel fluid tips, needles, and passageways come standard for compatibility with both solvent-based and waterborne materials. The gun is CE marked and fully ATEX approved for use in hazardous atmospheres.
Ergonomic Design for Reduced Operator Fatigue
The Advance HD features a contoured handle design that greatly reduces RSI and operator fatigue during extended spray sessions. Increased finger space, lighter trigger pull tension, reduced trigger travel, and a self-adjusting PTFE needle packing assembly all contribute to a gun that is comfortable to use shift after shift. The built-in air inlet adjuster "cheater" valve provides at-the-gun pressure control for quick adjustments without leaving the spray area.
