Overview

Reflect Perfection.
Next-Generation Clearcoat.

The DeVilbiss DV1 Clearcoat Kit 704521 is the complete professional clearcoat solution from the DV1 platform — the only DV1 kit that ships with two air caps. The kit includes three fluid tips (1.2, 1.3, and 1.4mm), both the DV1-C1+ HVLP Plus (704434) and DV1-C2+ HVLP Plus (704435) air caps, the Digital DGI PRO Air Gauge, and DPC Adapter.

The DV1 Clearcoat introduces a step change in atomization by optimizing air velocity while maximizing fluid flow simultaneously. This produces an even distribution of fine, uniformly sized particles that wet up a surface easily and hang flawlessly on vertical panels — delivering an immediately visible improvement in Distinctness of Image (DOI) and brilliance in the reflective, mirror-like clearcoat finish that professional painters and shops demand.

Higher application speeds at lower pressures enhance overall productivity and efficiency, while the integrated digital gauge provides the exact, repeatable inlet pressure readings that ensure consistent results job to job. Call or text 586-210-0555 to confirm the right cap and tip combination for your clearcoat brand.

Why This Gun?

DV1 Clearcoat Advantages.
Mirror Finish on Every Panel.

Two Air Caps Included — C1+ and C2+ Kit 704521 is the only DV1 kit that ships with two air caps: the DV1-C1+ for a 12.8” pattern and the DV1-C2+ for a 12.2” pattern. Swap between them to match your clearcoat system or application preference — no additional purchase needed.
Superior DOI & Mirror-Like Finish Optimized air velocity and maximized fluid flow produce uniformly fine particles that wet vertical panels completely and hang without sagging — delivering visibly improved Distinctness of Image and reflective clarity in the finished clearcoat.
Higher Speed at Lower Pressure The DV1 Clearcoat’s design enables faster application speeds at lower inlet pressures compared to conventional HVLP clearcoat guns — improving throughput per booth cycle without sacrificing finish quality.
Precision Digital Gauge at Eye-Level The same integrated digital DGI PRO gauge as the DV1 Basecoat — exact inlet pressure readings at eye-level for repeatable clearcoat results across every vehicle, every booth, and every technician.

Application Guide

Clearcoat Tip Selection

DV1-C tips are engineered specifically for clearcoat viscosities and are not interchangeable with DV1-B (Basecoat) tips. All five C-series sizes use the same DV1-300 Needle (704416).

TipClearcoat Application
1.0mm (704440) Low-viscosity & thin clearcoats; detail & touch-up
1.1mm (704441) Standard MS clearcoats at typical reduction ratios
1.2mm ✓ (704442) Most popular — HS & UHS clearcoats, most brands
1.3mm ✓ (704443) UHS & high-viscosity clearcoats, increased flow
1.4mm ✓ (704444) Maximum viscosity clearcoats, heavy coverage applications

✓ = included in Kit 704521  ·  1.0mm and 1.1mm available separately  ·  All tips use DV1-300 Needle (704416)

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Which cap should I run first — C1+ or C2+?

Most painters start with the DV1-C1+ for its wider 12.8” pattern and slightly lower air consumption. The DV1-C2+ at 12.2” and 11.3 SCFM delivers more concentrated atomization that some painters prefer for higher-viscosity UHS clearcoats or when spraying in tighter spaces. Since both are included in this kit, try the C1+ first and compare with your specific clearcoat brand. Call 586-210-0555 if you need guidance.

Can I use DV1-B tips in the DV1 Clearcoat gun?

No — DV1-C (clearcoat) tips and DV1-B (basecoat) tips are not interchangeable. The C-series tips are engineered specifically for clearcoat viscosities and the C-series air caps. Always use DV1-C tips (704440–704444) with this gun. The fluid needle (DV1-300, 704416) is shared between B and C configurations.

What tip size should I use for UHS clearcoat?

The 1.2mm (704442) is the most commonly used tip for HS and UHS clearcoats from major brands including PPG, Axalta, and Spies Hecker. The 1.3mm (704443) is suitable for higher-viscosity UHS systems where additional fluid flow is needed. All three included tips (1.2, 1.3, 1.4mm) cover the full range of professional clearcoat viscosities. Call 586-210-0555 to confirm for your specific brand.

Are the C-series spray head and sleeve the same as the B-series?

No — the DV1 Clearcoat uses C-series specific components for its gold spray head and sleeve. The Spray Head Kit (704436) and Sleeve Kit (704437) are clearcoat-specific. Air valve, rear seal, front cage, service kits, needle, and packing kit are shared with the B-series. See the DV1 C Breakdown for the full parts list.

Which service kit should I stock for the DV1 Clearcoat?

The Minor Service Kit (704430) covers routine maintenance — front cage, needle spring, and O-rings. The Major Service Kit (704431) handles full overhauls. Note that the DV1 Clearcoat minor kit items differ slightly from the B-series — items 23, 25, 35, 51, 53 vs the B-series which also includes item 49. See the DV1 C Breakdown to confirm.

Where is the full DV1 Clearcoat parts list and manual?
