Description
DeVilbiss Advance HD Pressure Feed Trans-Tech Spray Gun Kit (ADV-P522-18)
The DeVilbiss Advance HD Pressure Feed Trans-Tech Spray Gun Kit (ADV-P522-18) is a high-output mid-sized industrial spray gun configured for pressure-feed operation with Trans-Tech compliant atomization. This kit includes the Advance HD pressure-feed gun body with the No. 522 Trans-Tech air cap and a 1.8mm stainless steel fluid tip and needle. Gun only — no cup included. The 522 Trans-Tech cap paired with the 1.8mm nozzle is a versatile production configuration that balances fluid delivery with fine atomization for a wide range of medium-viscosity industrial coatings.
What's in the Kit
The ADV-P522-18 ships with the Advance HD pressure-feed gun body, No. 522 Trans-Tech air cap, and 1.8mm stainless steel fluid tip and needle. The pressure-feed configuration connects to external fluid supply systems including pressure tanks, remote cups, and recirculating lines. The gun features a 1/4" universal thread air inlet and a 3/8" universal thread fluid inlet (both accept BSP and NPS connectors). Optional accessories include the stainless steel fluid filter kit (VSA-512) and tungsten carbide or hardened tips and needles for abrasive materials.
No. 522 Trans-Tech Air Cap Performance
The No. 522 Trans-Tech air cap operates at a recommended inlet pressure of 29 psi (2.0 bar) with an air consumption of 14.5 scfm (410 L/min) and produces a typical fan pattern of approximately 350mm (13.8"). The 522 is one of the highest-capacity Trans-Tech caps in the Advance HD range — it delivers a wide fan pattern with strong air volume for fast, efficient coverage on large surfaces while maintaining the compliant transfer efficiency that Trans-Tech technology is known for. The 1.8mm fluid tip is a strong general-purpose size for pressure-feed work, providing solid fluid flow for medium-viscosity materials including industrial enamels, primers, stains, sealers, lacquers, and single-component protective coatings without the excess flow rate of a larger nozzle. Hardened and tungsten carbide tips and needles are available in this size for abrasive materials.
Why Pressure Feed
Pressure-feed spray guns deliver material from an external pressurized source rather than a gravity or suction cup. This eliminates the weight of a cup on the gun body, reducing operator fatigue on long spray sessions. More importantly, pressure feed enables continuous material supply without stopping to refill — a critical advantage in high-volume production, large-panel work, and applications where consistent fluid delivery is needed regardless of gun angle or orientation. The Advance HD pressure-feed body maintains the same high-capacity air passages and balanced air valve as the gravity and suction versions for identical atomization quality.
Built for High-Demand Industrial Finishing
The Advance HD achieves superior atomization through high-capacity air passages and a separate balanced air valve that provides unrestricted airflow through the gun body. The heavily anodized aluminum alloy construction is built for durability in demanding production environments. Stainless steel fluid tips, needles, and passageways come standard for compatibility with both solvent-based and waterborne materials. The gun is CE marked and fully ATEX approved for use in hazardous atmospheres.
Ergonomic Design for Reduced Operator Fatigue
The Advance HD features a contoured handle design that greatly reduces RSI and operator fatigue during extended spray sessions. Increased finger space, lighter trigger pull tension, reduced trigger travel, and a self-adjusting PTFE needle packing assembly all contribute to a gun that is comfortable to use shift after shift. The built-in air inlet adjuster "cheater" valve provides at-the-gun pressure control for quick adjustments without leaving the spray area.
