Description

C.A. Technologies Lynx 100C Conventional Spray Gun — 2.8mm / 21-2201 Internal Mix Setup (L100C-28-201)

100 Series Conventional General Purpose | Internal Mix | US Made

The Lynx 100C (L100C) is C.A. Technologies' high quality general purpose conventional spray gun, available in pressure, siphon, and internal mix configurations. The L100C-28-201 setup pairs the 31-0628 fluid nozzle (2.8mm) with the 21-2201 internal mix air cap — the maximum orifice configuration in the Lynx 100C lineup. Internal mix atomization combines air and fluid inside the air cap before exit, enabling spraying of ultra-heavy body materials that cannot be properly atomized by any external mix air cap. The 21-2201 requires the 21-1583 base and 21-1584 ring for installation.

At a Glance

  • Feed type: Internal mix — air and fluid combine inside the air cap before exit
  • Best material types: Ultra-heavy body coatings, thick adhesives, caulk-like materials, and any material too viscous to atomize through external mix configurations
  • Air use: 5.2 CFM @ 50 PSI — extremely low air consumption, accessible for small compressor setups
  • Pattern size: Internal mix produces a round, coarser pattern — not a fan spray; confirm suitability for your application with CET
  • Why choose this setup: The largest orifice (2.8mm) in the Lynx 100C lineup combined with internal mix atomization gives maximum fluid throughput for the thickest materials — useful when even a 2.2mm external mix setup cannot flow the material consistently
  • Key included components: 31-0628 fluid nozzle, 40-1128 needle, 21-2201 internal mix air cap, 21-1583 base, 21-1584 ring, 60-1500 fan control assembly

Best for This Setup

The L100C-28-201 represents the maximum fluid throughput available on the Lynx 100C platform — a 2.8mm orifice is .110" in diameter, nearly three times the area of a 1.2mm tip, and combined with internal mix atomization it can handle materials that would completely clog or fail to spray through any external mix configuration. This setup is most relevant in industrial production environments applying heavy adhesives, textured coatings, anti-corrosion compounds, or thick industrial enamels that approach the viscosity of caulk. The 21-2201 internal mix air cap's 5.2 CFM keeps compressor demand minimal even at maximum orifice size — a practical benefit when the compressor is already working to push high-viscosity material through the fluid line from a pressure pot. If you're in a situation where a 2.2mm internal mix setup (L100C-22-201) is still delivering an inconsistent pattern or requires excessive thinning to spray properly, the 2.8mm L100C-28-201 is the next and final step up in the Lynx 100C lineup. Note that the 21-2201 air cap and 21-1583 base / 21-1584 ring are all required for this setup — confirm all three are in hand before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the L100C-28-201 best for?
Ultra-heavy body materials including thick industrial adhesives, textured coatings, heavy anti-corrosion compounds, and any coating too viscous to atomize through external mix or smaller internal mix configurations. The 2.8mm orifice is the largest available on the Lynx 100C platform.
Is this siphon or pressure feed?
Neither in the conventional sense — this is an internal mix setup. Internal mix combines air and fluid inside the air cap before they exit the gun. Most internal mix applications use a pressure pot or pressure cup to supply material to the gun, but the atomization method is fundamentally different from external mix pressure or siphon feed.
What air cap does the L100C-28-201 use?
The 21-2201 internal mix air cap, which requires the 21-1583 base and 21-1584 ring for installation. All three components must be present for the air cap assembly to function correctly.
What fluid nozzle and needle does this setup use?
The 31-0628 fluid nozzle (2.8mm / .110") paired with the 40-1128 needle (marked 128).
What repair kit fits the Lynx 100C?
Repair kit 10-106 covers all Lynx 100C configurations. It includes all wear seals, o-rings, springs, and needle seal components needed for a full gun rebuild.
Where can I find the full parts list and assembly diagram?
