Overview

The Default Bobcat.
For Good Reason.

The Bobcat B413 is the most widely specified Bobcat configuration — a 0.013” orifice at 40° producing an 8” pattern, the combination that covers the widest range of production wood and metal finishing without requiring a tip change.

The 0.013” orifice flows enough material for continuous production runs on lacquers, enamels, waterborne coatings, and medium-viscosity industrial finishes. The 40° fan produces an 8” pattern — wide enough for efficient panel coverage, tight enough for doors, drawer fronts, cabinet components, and metal parts where a wider fan creates more overspray than it saves time.

Air assist airless technology means finer atomization than pure airless at significantly lower air consumption than conventional guns — 6 CFM at the gun, HVLP compliant at ≤18 PSI. If you’re setting up a Bobcat system and aren’t sure which tip to start with, the B413 is where CET starts the conversation.

Why This Configuration?

Built for Production
Finishing.

Cabinet & Furniture Production Doors, drawer fronts, cabinet components — the 8” fan moves fast without fighting overspray on edges and profiles.
Metal Fabrication & Industrial Finishing Parts, components, and assemblies where AAA’s transfer efficiency over conventional air spray reduces material waste and cleanup time.
Lacquers, Enamels & Waterborne Coatings The 0.013” orifice covers the full range of production topcoats — thin enough for fine lacquers, enough flow for waterborne production coatings.
Low CFM Production Lines At 6 CFM, the Bobcat draws significantly less air than conventional guns, making it practical on smaller compressor systems and multi-gun production lines.

Fluid Tip

36-413

0.013” orifice · 40° angle · ~8” pattern

Most popular Bobcat tip — covers lacquers, enamels, waterborne, and medium-viscosity industrial coatings. Replaceable field tip.

Air Cap

26-101

AAA HVLP air cap · ≤18 PSI at handle

Refines airless atomization with a small volume of HVLP air — finer finish than pure airless at a fraction of conventional gun CFM.

Gun Type

AAA

Air Assist Airless · 1500 PSI max

Requires AAA pump (e.g., Peak 14:1). Airless fluid pressure provides primary atomization; HVLP air at cap refines the pattern.

Other 0.013” Configurations — Same Orifice, Different Spray Angle

ModelAnglePatternBest For
B213 20° 4” Tight spaces, detail work, narrow substrate
B313 30° 6” Intermediate fan — smaller components, moderate coverage
B413 ← Current 40° 8” General production — most popular, widest application range
B513 50° 10” Wider panel coverage — same 0.013” flow, more fan per pass
B613 60° 12” Large flat panel production — maximum fan at 0.013”

Choose B413 for general production finishing. Go narrower (B213, B313) for detail and components; go wider (B513, B613) for large flat panel runs. Call or text 586-210-0555 to confirm.

Material Viscosity Range

Very Thin Thin Medium Heavy Ultra-Heavy
Who uses this daily Cabinet shops, furniture manufacturers, metal fabricators, production finishing lines, industrial coating operations
Fluid pressure guidance Start at 350–500 PSI and increase until atomization is consistent. Most production lacquers and enamels at 700–1000 PSI. Do not exceed 1500 PSI.
Compressor sizing Gun draws 6 CFM — most 1.5–3 HP single-stage compressors cover this comfortably. Add pump CFM for total system requirement. Call 586-210-0555 to confirm before ordering.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the B413 the most popular Bobcat?

The 0.013” orifice and 40° angle cover the widest production finishing range without a tip change — thin enough for fine lacquers, enough flow for production coatings, and an 8” fan that works on both component and panel work. It’s where CET starts the conversation on every new Bobcat setup.

How do I read the B413 part number?

B = Bobcat gun. 4 = 40° spray angle (tens of degrees). 13 = 0.013” orifice (thousandths of an inch). The tip installed is 36-413, available separately as a field-replaceable tip without buying a new gun.

Can I change tips without buying a new gun?

Yes — all 36-series tips are field-replaceable. If you need a different orifice or spray angle for a different material or part geometry, order the replacement tip directly. Call or text 586-210-0555 to order the specific tip you need.

What pump system does the Bobcat require?

The Bobcat requires an AAA pump delivering 350–1500 PSI fluid pressure. The C.A. Technologies Peak 14:1 is the standard pairing — available in cart mount, wall mount, and portable cart configurations. Call or text 586-210-0555 to configure the right system.

What repair kit does the Bobcat use?

10-137 covers routine maintenance (all o-rings and seat). 10-138 is the complete kit, adding the air valve assembly and needle seal cartridge. CET stocks both for same-day shipment.

Where can I find the Bobcat parts manual?

The full parts manual with exploded diagram, tip flow chart, and all replacement part numbers is available via the download button below. CET includes documentation with every order.
